Today the road brought us to Salem, MA – famous Witch City of the USA. It is old, it is pretty, it has its charm. Here in 17th century locals accused a number of girls of being involved with black magic. Later the ones who survived got an official apology, but this story had become the main attraction of the town. Now an old lady on the broom’s image occupies many souvenirs-stores.
One of the central monuments is a character from a famous black-and-white US show “Bewitched”. Later the topic was brought back to the cinema with Nicole Kidman playing young witch, who is trying to cope with our World without her tricks.
Local postman says it is many witches are still living and working in Salem. “They are all nice people and will not harm you.” We were sure it was a joke until we bumped into Hogwarts like book store on our way. The owner was wise and tricky to speak with and was all the time hiding his face behind the piles of books.
